Christmas!

This time we had Christmas in Second Life!
I felt a little bit dissapointed because we didn't do anything but just had a discussion.
I was wondering why we have to use SL.
If we just talked, skype is enough for our mission.
With such beautiful scenes in SL, I hope we can have use our avatar to visit SL more!
The Christmas mission may be not so interesting for me this time, but I still had fun in SL
because Fanny and I used our avatar to move around in SL and took some pictures! :-)

Discuss Canadian food in the SL!!

This time in second life we discussed Canadian food! With this activity, I knew lots of dishes that canadian have everyday. I was curious about foreigners' traditional food, and their traditional cooking style, so I had a good time in the task in SL.

After dissicussion, I found out that Canadian have a exactly different cooking style with us Asian! Usually, we pan-fry, but they roast a lot. Also, our main food is different as well. While Canadian eat potatos, we have rice most often.

The activity this time gave me a chance to know more about foreign culture! It made me feel that learning Englihs is useful, because we can use this lang. to interact with foreigner and get more extra knowledge that we might not learn from those boring text-books!

Besides, this topic is interesting for me because it is easy, no pressure, and not like those serious topics that we have to think and response cautiously. With relaxing topic like this, I was much freer to participate in the discussion.

The Trip to Banff

Our second mission in SL was "The trip to Banff". I would like to say that this time is better than the first one! Teacher Jason typed some unfamiliar words (for us) so that I can check what he was talking about and help myself understand the conversation more.

In this mission, mostly, I like the part we went finding the aimed picture because we can move around and interact with the virtual reality scene in SL. We did see lots of beautiful pictures! In this part, it seems like that we were playing a game that we have a mission and we have to find out the answer, and all of this makes the activity meaningful! Even though I was not the one first find out the picture, I felt I envolved in the mission. That was the feeling of participation!

It is still attractive for me to have a mission in SL for language learning at the second time. However, I felt a little bit dispointed that we couldn't see virtual Banff in SL. I thought we would have a mission in a virtual environment of Banff National Park in SL at first, but we didn't. we just stayed in somewher and talked. What's worse, my microphone didn't work, so no one could hear me, and I had to type whatever I would like to say. And sometimes I failed to type in time that when I finished typing, people have already ended the topic as well...

Anyway, I still look forward for the next mission in SL! I hope we can gain more world knowledge through having activities with real foreigner in SL, and learn English at the same time! :-) HAPPY~

My first time in second life

It is interesting that we had an activity in second life.
I enjoyed talking and answering questions on the Internet, seeing beautiful views and had fun with my classmates.
We practiced English and gained knowledge as well.
However, I've got say that there are also some disadvantages of it,too.
Say, sometimes, out of my poor equipment, I can't hear very clearly.
And, since the view in second was so fantastic, sometimes I failed to be concentrative on my work... I didn't listen to the teacher, neither others, I just stared on the special items aroung my avatar........

But I will soon get used to it, I mean, the vertual reality view in second life, so that I can keep concentrate on the activity next time, I believe!

Anyway, I like on-line task like this.
